ShuffleTones Privacy Policy

1. Overview
ShuffleTones is a customizable ringtone application that respects user privacy. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.
Key Point: ShuffleTones does NOT collect, store, or transmit personal data to our servers. All data is stored locally on your device.
2. Data We Handle
2.1 Data We DO Process
2.1.1 Google Play Billing Data (Required for Purchases)
When you purchase a one-time tier upgrade, Google Play handles the payment transaction. We receive:
- Purchase Token: A unique token provided by Google Play confirming your purchase
- Tier: Which tier you purchased
- Timestamp: When the purchase was made
Storage:This data is stored locally on your device in binary format (not plain-text) and is encypted at rest by Android’s storage mechanisms. We do NOT send this to our servers.
What we DO with it: We use this data only to:
- Verify your current tier
- Unlock tier-appropriate features (more playlists, more ringtones per playlist, etc.)
- Restore your purchase if you reinstall the app
What we DON’T do: We do NOT sell, share, or transmit this data to third parties.
2.1.2 File Access (With Your Permission)
When you grant the app permission to access audio files on your device, we read:
- Audio File Names and Metadata (only to display ringtones nicely with Title, Artist & Album on the playlist details page)
- Folder Structure (only to browse your Music directory)
We do NOT:
- Copy your files elsewhere (unless you elect to copy music from cloud storage to local storage)
- Analyze the audio content
- Share file data with anyone
- Transmit files to the internet
2.1.3 Permissions
When you grant permissions or opt-out of permissions, these preferences are saved on your device

When you change the app’s theme (color scheme), the selected theme is saved on your device
2.2 Data We Do NOT Collect
❌ Personal Information: We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information.
❌ Location Data: We do not access or collect your device’s GPS location.
❌ Contacts: We do not access your contacts, call history, or messaging data.
❌ Audio Content: We do not collect, analyze, or transmit any audio files or ringtones you select.
❌ Usage Analytics: We do not track how you use the app, which playlists you create, or which ringtones you set.
❌ Cookies/Tracking: We do not use cookies or tracking technologies.
3. How We Use Your Data
3.1 Tier Data
- Locally: To determine which features are available to you
- Feature Unlock: To limit playlists/ringtones based on your tier
- Purchase Restoration: To restore your tier if you reinstall the app
3.2 Permissions
- READ_MEDIA_AUDIO / READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: Used only to let you browse and select ringtone files from your device
- WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: Used only to import playlists you choose to import or copy songs from cloud storage
- READ_PHONE_STATE: Used only to detect incoming calls to trigger ringtone shuffling for a new ringtone on each call
- WRITE_SETTINGS: Used only to set the selected ringtone as the system default
- INTERNET: Used only for Google Play Billing communication (purchasing tiers)
- FOREGROUND_SERVICE / FOREGROUND_SERVICE_PHONE_CALL: Used only to detect incoming calls in the background
4. Data Storage & Security
4.1 Where Data is Stored
All your data is stored only on your device:
- App Database: Playlists & ringtones
- Binary User Preferences: Tier & purchase tokens; Permissions opt-outs; Theme setting
- Audio Files: Stored on your device’s storage (you own & control these and we don’t make copies unless the file is inaccessible [E.G. cloud music not in “keep on device” mode] and you approve)
4.2 We Do NOT Store Data On:

4.3 Security Measures
- All data is stored locally using Android’s default storage mechanisms
- User Preferences, including purchase tokens are encrypted at rest by Android’s storage
- Google Play handles payment card security (we never see your card details)
5. Third-Party Services
5.1 Google Play Billing
Service: Google Play Billing Library

Purpose: Processing one-time tier purchases
Data Shared: Only payment transaction data, handled
entirely by Google

5.2 No Other Third Parties
We do not use:
- Analytics tools
- Advertising networks
- Crash reporting services
- Social media SDKs
- Any other third-party services that collect user data
6. Your Rights & Choices
6.1 Data Access
You can see all data the app stores:
- Open Settings → Apps → ShuffleTones → Storage
- All app data is stored locally in your app storage folder
6.2 Data Deletion
You can delete all app data:
- Open Settings → Apps → ShuffleTones → Storage → Clear Storage
- This deletes all playlists, permissions, saved theme and stored tier state
- Your purchased tier(s) remain in Google Play — reinstall or “Restore Purchases” to restore
6.3 Opt-Out
You can choose NOT to:
- Grant file access permissions (the app won’t access audio files)
- Make in-app purchases (free tier is always available)
- Allow the app to detect call state (ringtone shuffling won’t work)
7. Children’s Privacy
ShuffleTones does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will delete it immediately.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy to reflect changes in our practices or applicable laws. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy.
